First office visit

For patients of Dr. Schmitt:
My first visit with Dr. Schmitt is coming up in a few
weeks and I'm so excited. I want to be sure I have
everything together when I go. How far back will Dr.
Schmitt need my medical records from my primary care
physician? Will I need to have a letter of
recommendation from my PCP?
Thanks for any help anyone can give!

    Katie,

My BMI was 39 also. The importance is to be at least 100 bls over your ideal weight and the comobidities. They must be listed on your letter from your primary physician. I can't make the meeting on the 23rd. I will be at the beach. I will be back on Tuesday. Rosie

From what I remember when I first called Dr. Miles office, they will take a
BMI of ~37 or better if there are certain comorbidities. For short people
(like I am) being exactly or more than 100 lbs overweight is not a hard and
fast rule, I don't think. And DON"T try to gain weight just to get to the
100 lbs mark -- you are doing yourself harm that way. If you have true
comorbidities and a BMI of 39, I don't think that is going to hold up your
approval. Unless your contract with BCBS is written some specific kind of
    way.
    Warm hugs,

Katie, I have BCBS (XAA) I got approved within about 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. My BMI was 42 but it is 25 now. I am nearly 11 months out and I have lost 146 lbs. I called BSBC myself several times to ask if I had been approved. After you get all your stuff turned in it shouldn't take that long. I had a friend that got approved in 1 week, she called BSBC everyday till they gave her an answer. They are the best insurance to have from what I have heard.
