Brenda - FREAK OUT...
Thanks Brenda! I meant every word of it too. You know, not being a
"WLS" person, I have to look at the issues that our group faces from the
sidelines, and no, I'll never pretend to know what it's like to be a
person of size, but the one thing that I have noticed is that for most,
"our" problems stem from the same sources. And I'm not trying to give
Dr. Sparks a run for her money either by playing psychologist, she's the
trained professional and a darn good one too. But I do qualify as
human, and as a human I do recognize fear. Fear... four little letters
that can reach inside and grab you by the guts and mess up your life
until you realize that it is you, and only you, that has the ability to
reach inside and squish the life out of the parasitic little tick!
There's no secret sword of bravery needed, just reason and common
sense. Most of us are afraid of "What happens IF...", and it's human
nature and media programming that makes us look for the bad "if's"
instead of the good "if's". Most of us think "What IF he/she thinks I'm
a joke" instead of "What IF he/she sees that I have the sexiest smile
he/she has ever seen", right? Of course we do, I do it too. But I
believe that everybody has value, no matter their size, their looks,
their color, their IQ, etc. And when I do run into the few people that
are not simply overwhelmed with and enthralled by my unique and
endearing personality (darn, I forgot the "sexy" part again), then I
figure it's their loss. And I do not/will not surround myself with
negative people whose only purpose in life is to make themselves look
better by cutting down the people around them. Life is way to short to
put up with crap like that, but it's up to you to make the call to
"cull" people like that out of your life.
Taking the shrink hat off now and getting back to "Life 101"!
Tim.

Tim, That is a great response. Keep it on file for people in the
future and send it to them the month before surgery. It is really
something to read.
