What to wear

2008-10-31 14:48:39

Hello, I've been wondering what I am going to wear to the fashion
show. Can any of you ladies give me an idea on what you are going to
wear??? Thanks, Sherry Reynolds

Thanks!!

2008-10-31 11:11:44

Thank you all for the encouraging words. It really helped me through
a difficult weekend.
My husband was in my room when I got discharged and he heard what
the Dr. said about all liquids till my appointment to have my
staples removed. He would not listen to me and what I was told at
the nutrition class. He also keeped saying that if I didn't do the
liquids like I was told then I would land back in the hospital.
Well I ignored him and the Dr. and finally had some mashed potatos
and gravy for supper Sunday.I feel better.
Also I am still confused about the vitamins, calcium and b12.
Do we take the b12 every day? I think I remember them telling us to
take it twice a week. On the vitamins and calcium, are these the two
that you are not suppose to take together?

Need Advice for Protein on Vacation

2008-10-30 15:00:37

Hi everyone,
I'm leaving for a cruise vacation on 11/20. Can anyone tell me where
I can buy protein drink samples? I currently drink two extreme
smoothies a day, but can't pack enough for the cruise due to weight
constraints. I live two hours from Birmingham and often can't make
the support group meetings. I am 5 weeks out and am feeling
overwhelmed. Can someone offer advice?
Thank you,
Sam (I am a Sam of the female variety...lol)

Looking For An Inexpensive Bracelent to Buy or Borrow

2008-10-30 07:06:01

Greetings all Supermodels and other ladies. I'm looking for a couple
of bracelets for Fashion Show night that have black or red or pink or
some other sparkly component. I can't use just plain rhinestones. I
hate to spend a fortune for something I'll wear for 6 hours (show,
dinner, ride home, LOL). I've been to Harry Hines and wasn't too
impressed with their stuff in black and colors. However, if you're
looking for sparkly rhinestone stuff Harry Hines is THE WAY TO GO!
It'in the old WalMart shoppping center in Riverchase by Hobby Lobby.
Any ideas?

After Surgery

2008-10-29 21:18:01

Ok. All the papers that I have read from the Doctors office,
seminars and on the web say that you do not go home on a liquid
diet. If this is so how come I was? I was told to stay on the liquid
diet until I have my first office visit to have my staples removed
by the Dr. that discharged me.
This is so not funny. How long can one person drink broth??
I wish now that I never decided to have this done. I didn't know I
would have to drink all my meals for the rest of my recovery.

Hot tip fashion show ladies -and any other lady too!

2008-10-29 20:48:53

I went to WalMart last night and found a GREAT foundation garmet for
only $12.97. You can't beat that and it really, really, really holds
everything jiggle free. It's called:
Cupid
Thigh Trimmer with
Waist Cincher
Slims Thighs and Waist
Shapes Your Curves
EXTRA FIRM CONTROL
The section that comes up higher than your waist hooks closed and it
has stays all around the waist area. It's awesome. I thought "Well,
it might be o.k." but I swear it's as good as any of those high
dollar garmets!
I'm going to be wearing two dresses in the show. One to open and one
to close and yesterday at Collage in Vestavia I found the dress to
end all dresses for only $59.99. It is beaded from top to bottom and
was brand new with the original tags still on it! I think it's
breathtaking. It made me feel pretty and since gaining 15 pounds
about a year ago I don't tend to feel pretty all that often. I still
have all the same insecurities all WLS patients have but the dress is
AWESOME! Can you tell I'm so excited? Wade bought me a beautiful
pair of earrings to go with it. :)
Ok, that's it for now. Just wanted to share about the foundation
garmet. I think you'll really like it. The trick is to buy it one
size smaller than you normally wear. That way it holds everything
firmly in place.
Guys - we are going to have SO MUCH FUN!
Hug,
Rona

P.S. Don't forget practice tomorrow night at the church at 6:30.

2008-10-29 12:56:04

Well, it has been 2 weeks ago today and I am down 22lbs.! I am so
excited about this second chance I have been given!!! I am getting
sick of cream potatos, but other than that things are going great!!!
Good luck to everyone waiting. Hang in there and keep your faith in
God!!!

Hi Clem!

Oh everything worked out through the wonderful grace of the Lord God Almighty! I am so thankful I was singing and praising him all over this house. He is awesome I know that!!! I love that He is with me through all the good times and the bad. I just had to let go and let God. I just told him that if it was His will either way to proceed with the surgery or that I was to wait then I would accept it. He is such a wonderful God! God Bless us all! And thank you Clem. You are so kind. Only through God can I do anything to him I give all the Praise, Power, and Glory for all things!

OH MYYYYYYY GOSH

2008-10-27 04:32:50

I CANT BELIEVE IT, I KNOW THIS SOUNDS SILLY, BUT IM SO EXCITED!!!!!! IF ANYONE HAD TOLD ME 18 MONTHS AGO, I WOULD NOT BE SMOKING 3 PACKS A DAY, OR DRINKING 6 COKES A DAY AND WALKING 3-5 MILES A DAY, I WOULD HAVE SAT YOU DOWN, AND TOOK YOUR TEMPERATURE, BECAUSE I KNOWWWWWWWWWW YOUR A VERY SICK PERSON. WAITTTTTTTT THATS NOT WHAT IM EXCITED ABOUT.......NOW THAT I FEEL LIKE I HAVE MASTERED THE POWER WALKING, I FELT I WAS READY FOR GREATER THINGS. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DO NOT KNOW ME OR MY BACKGROUND, I HAD WLS MAY OF 2003, AND IN 7 MONTHS I LOST ALL THAT I WAS GOING TO LOSE, WHICH WAS 80 LBS AND THEN I GAINED 15 OF IT BACK, NO I WAS NOT ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES, BUT I WAS DETERMINED TO GET BACK ON TRACK, (I was scared to death, not even going to lie about it) THAT I WOULD GAIN ALL OF IT BACK, SO I STARTED WALKING, AND WALKING AND WALKING, AND LOST THE 15 PLUS 15 MORE, AND LOTS OF INCHES, MOST IMPORTANT, IT MADE ME FEEL GREATTTTTTTTTTT!
NOW WHAT IM SOOOOOOO EXCITED ABOUT IS.........
BIGGGGGGGGG EX-SMOKER,AND EX-SPICY MEATBALL (that (F) word is not permitted in my home lol. WALKED 2 MILES AND JOGGED 1 WHOLE MILE TODAY
YIPPPPPPPEEEE
GIGGLE GIGGLE AT 49 AND LOVING LIFE IN ALABAMA
RITA
p.s. Tom Owens says if you do something for 30 days it becomes a habit, I was determine to prove him wrong with the walking, well guess what, he was right, everyday, I look forward to that wonderful feeling I get after walking.

God is hope and that I have...

Day of disappointment...

2008-10-26 10:57:43

[INLINE] Well I got some very disappointing news a few minutes ago. The surgery is indeed approved but because of the insurance contract with my husbands work I have to wait another ten months for a year to pass from the date of the insurance eligibility date. The only bright spot is that it will give me a chance to lose more weight before I have it done. I know that is a good thing but I am so so upset right now. Why did they approve it if there is a waiting period. It should be against the rules to get one's hopes up then send them crashing back down. Well I can't let it get me down, even though for now it has. The good thing like I mentioned is I can lose more weight and not worry so much about needing a second TT done. I'm still pretty upset though. So you all still say a prayer for me that I can throw away this disappointing setback and move on in a positive way. God Bless you all and hugs to all of ya!

Wolfie, this is indeed very disappointing news! Couldn't you just strangle the insurance companies? Yes, it's a setback, but you are already looking at the positive side of it (losing more). As there's probably nothing you can do to change their procedures, at least you can control the impact it has on you. I can tell that you're a real survivor, to be thinking this through in such a short period of time.

*smiles* :) Joan

Well the ole devil tries to get me down and at times I do but I am empowered by Jesus to fight back. I know it may be a long shot but I have found a clause that I had read prior to EVEN going to the doctor where if I had a credible coverage with no break 63 days prior to getting BCBS with my husbands company insurance then they will reduce or waive the waiting period. Please all you Prayer Warriors say prayers that God will go ahead of this situation and clear the way. Thank you ever so much and God Bless You all!

of 168 pounds gone! Can you believe it?!?! Oh, I am so glad I did the
surgery, and found me in the body I was trapped in. But I have heard
something about the bc/bs, not paying for the surgery after January
2005 is this true? I hope it isnt, cause there are people who really
need it out there. But anyhow, thanks for reading, and letting me
share.

Nerve damage

2008-10-25 06:16:05

I was listening to the news this morning about the bypass surgery or
having your stomach stapled and it said that this surgery can cause
nerve damage. I don't remember this being a side affect. They said it
can be so bad that you can be put in a wheelchair for the rest of
your life. How do you know if you have nerve damage.
I'm not worried, because I've had no problems with the surgery
because I would do it all over again I was just shocked.

Shame On You Rooster 106 in Columbus, GA

2008-10-25 03:53:56

My name is Rona and I've never even heard of your radio station but you may rest
assured that I will make sure LOTS of people will hear about your radio station
before all is said and done. Before you get excited let me assure you that none
of them are in your listening audience so it will be of no benefit to you. In
fact, if the right thing results, you will hopefully find yourself disciplined
for your discrimination which is EXACTLY what you deserve.
I heard from an internet buddy that you are auctioning off a pair of Gretchen
Wilson's jeans to benefit charity. What a wonderful idea and I commend you for
that.
I also heard that a comment was made that Wynona offered an article of clothing
(this may have been said in jest)but there was no Tents for Tots campaign going
on at this time. SHAME ON YOU! Wynona is not only musically beautiful she is
physically beautiful. How dare you think so much of yourselves that you would
be so rude and insensitive. Let me educate you a little. 65% of Americans are
overweight. 17 million Americans are more than 100 pounds overweight. This is
not the result of poor self-discipline or poor self control. It is the result
of a genetically based disease state - just ask the surgeon general. When you
made that comment about Wynona you offended at least 65% of your listener base
and probably quite a few "normal" weight folks who love Wynona as well.
Would you have made that comment about someone who was in a wheelchair - even if
it was because they'd had a car accident while driving drunk (making it their
choice)? Would you have made that comment about someone with lung cancer after
they'd smoked for 30 years (making it their choice)? Would you have made that
comment about someone who was blind following an accident while carelessly using
fireworks (making it their choice)? I THINK NOT! No one chooses to be
different or socially unacceptable. Unfortunately obesity is the last arena for
public humiliation and discrimination that is still socially acceptable.
Obesity may involve poor lifestyle choices but no one actively chooses to be
obese. Shame on you again!
I like Gretchen Wilson alot and agree that she is a lovely woman. But to
compare her to Wynona she only comes out a winner in the category of body size.
Gretchen is no where near the talent that Wynona is....nowhere near the beauty.
Your "tents for tots" comment was uncalled for and totally lacking in couth and
decorum......but then again, I bet you're not really known for having those
qualities are you? I know you probably get a kick out of getting letters like
this and maybe you'll even read this on the air and make fun of me. But
tonight, when your head hits the pillow and you have no audience to listen to
you, I hope you'll think about how mean spirited and cruel you are. I hope
you'll think how these very same type of words and comments might hurt a member
of your family one day......someone you love.
Shame, shame on you both. You should be above cruel humor.
Regregretfully yours,
Rona Scott

Thanks For Your Time

2008-10-24 08:56:00

Amanda sent this to me today. Normally I don't forward stuff but
this just touched my heart. And it is SO VERY true. We've been so
busy with the fashion show, support groups, insurance approval and
such that we might not be giving enough attention to those we love
the most. Try to include them in everything. Just something to
think about. Amanda - thanks for taking the time to send this to me.
The Importance of Time
A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next
door. It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College,
girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved
clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush
of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and
often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his
future, and nothing could stop him.
Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The
funeral is Wednesday."
Memories flashed through his mind like an old news reel as he sat
quietly remembering his childhood days.
"Jack, did you hear me?"
"Oh sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought
of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack
said.
"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you
were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his
side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.
"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.
"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to
make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said.
"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in
this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching
me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the
funeral," Jack said.
As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to
his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had
no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.
The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to
see the old house next door one more time.
Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like
crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time.
The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories.
Every picture, every piece of furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.
"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.
"The box is gone," he said.
"What box?" Mom asked.
"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I
must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever
tell me was 'the thing I value most, '" Jack said.
It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack
remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser
family had taken it.
"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I
better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."
It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died. Returning home from
work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature
required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post
office within the next three days," the note read.
Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old
and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The
handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his
attention.
"Mr. Harold Belser" it read.
Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There
inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read
the note inside.
"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack
Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was
taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes,
Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful
gold pocket watch.
Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he
unlatched the cover.
Inside he found these words engraved:
"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."
"The thing he valued most...was...my time."
Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and
cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his
assistant asked.
"I need some time to spend with my son," he said. "Oh, by the way,
Janet...thanks for your time!"
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the
moments that take our breath away,"
Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.
1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for
you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't
like you.
4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
5. You mean the world to someone.
6. If not for you, someone may not be living.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you
probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and
wait on His time, sooner or later, you will get it or something
better.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still
come from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look:
you most likely turned your back on the world.
11. Someone that you don't even know exists, loves you.
12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the
rude remarks.
13. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much
better when they know and you'll both be happy.
14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that
they are great.
Send this letter to all the people you care about, if you do so, you
will certainly brighten someone's day and might change their
perspective on life...for the better.
To everyone I sent this to "Thanks for your time"

FYI - Fashion Show Doors Open at...............

2008-10-23 18:01:29

Hi All!
Of course you all know that the Fashion Show starts at 6:00. Since
it is "mostly" general admission (reserved seats are only for
sponsors and dignitaries because we don't have manpower to enforce it
for anything more than that)the doors will be open and ticket sales
will begin at 4:45.
I want to remind everyone that the age limit is 10 years old. I
completely respect that there are those of you with small children
who like for them to share in this event but they're going to have to
watch it on DVD. If someone brings a small child to the show they
will not be allowed admittance. I hope you all understand that this
is done to ensure a good, high quality show for you. Some of you may
remember that the first year our video was literally ruined because a
little 3 year old cried the whole way through......."I wanna go
hooooooooome!!" So, we just have to create rules and stick to them.
Also remember the rehearsal is tonight at the church at 6:30. For
directions you can go to http://www.mountaintopchurch.com and click
on "directions".
THERE WILL BE SUPPORT GROUP MEETING TONIGHT! But all supermodels are
to go to the church for rehearsal.

BCBS Info

2008-10-23 17:56:30

Hi All,
It's me - your bari-godmother. Some of you may have noticed that we
have deleted the thread regarding BCBS coverage. I want to give you
some facts straight from the horses (the horse being BCBS) mouth. I
also want to do a couple of other things. Thanks to Regina Sutton
for initially providing the info which, for the most part, is
accurate. However, I fear that the posts will start an unecessary
panic amongst patients and we don't want that so I'm going to give
you the facts that were given to me by BCBS and they'll be complete
so there won't have to be any fear where none is needed.
1. The new criteria is currently (and I quote) "up for discussion
and comments". It is not yet written in stone. However, we expect
that there will only be minor changes.
2. The info is correct that BCBS is going to start requiring
completion of a 6 month medically supervised diet. This can include
(and I quote) "Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, LA Weightloss, etc". It
cannot include any self monitored diets like Atkins or South Beach.
3. They WILL cover gastric bypass for people who have smoked within
the last three month. They will NOT COVER any pulmonary
complications resulting from surgical weight loss if the patient has
smoked in the last 3 months. Therefore this will require blood
testing for smokers. Our docs, Miles and Schmitt, already require
you to quit 6 weeks prior and now they will just extend that
requirement.
THE MAIN CHANGE that will affect waiting patients is the 6 months of
medically supervised diet attempts. A letter from you physician (and
I quote) "will not suffice". It must be medically supervised with
documentation of office visits, weigh ins and physician chart notes.
Or, as I said, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, LA Weightloss or another
organized program. Joining a gym and working with a personal trainer
will not suffice either.
We expected these changes and have been telling people for several
months at seminars that changes were coming. The primary concern
that I see for patients is that they will end up waiting a little
longer for surgery while they complete these new requirements. I
know it's frustrating but to be quite honest - some of these really
can be good for you. We KNOW it's good to quit smoking and weight
loss prior to surgery is also a good thing.
Please don't be angry at moderators for deleting the thread as it was
done on my order. I am simply trying to avert a panic where folks
start giving misinformation. Regina did not give misinformation but
you can see how the panic got started quickly.
Step back, take a breath and don't panic. It's only a hitch in the
giddyup - not a roadblock. A detour - not a dead end. Please don't
tie up your physician's phone lines with calls of panic. Your
physician cannot do anything about this.
Hugs,
Rona

My LBL Is Over

2008-10-23 15:47:14

I wanted to let everyone know that my LBL was uneventful. I was able to sleep in my own bed the first night. I must admit I did stress a bit with this. I woke up thanking God for blessing me and answering my prayers. Even with four drains, compression garment, anti embolism hose, and gown, the scales still showed my weight at 144 pounds. Also 10 pounds of excess skin was removed. A big thanks to EVERYONE, especially Wolfie and Gwen.

Blessings,

Brown Fox

I made my goal

2008-10-23 04:17:48

Hey everyone,

I do not post frequently, but I had to do it today. I have hit the 100 pounds lost mark! I almost weigh what I weighed when I got married 22 years ago. I have 11/2 months to reach my wedding date weight. I think that would be a pretty awesome anniversary gift.

I can't wait to see everyone at the fashion show. I plan to bring several friends from my local area who have either had the surgery or are awaiting their date.

Considering WLS......

2008-10-22 17:00:45

Hi there! I am considering WLS and I have no support from my husband
and I'm having a hard time dealing with this....I would like to know
if anybody has any suggestions for me?

question

2008-10-22 12:48:04

I have a question.... I went to see the plastic surgeon last month about my tummy tuck. I was told that I would have to see a doctor or be treated for 6 months before they would approve it. Has anyone else been told this???
I am just wondering why I should have to wait 6 months to try and treat my tummy that sweats and will not get any better. I wear a washcloth under my tummy skin to keep it dry along with powder. What is someone to do....see a doctor for 6 months??? Please tell me someone has done this before me......

Gym Reminder

2008-10-22 02:05:26

Good morning everyone.
I would like to say thank you to all who have expressed interest in
the gym membership. We have had a great response. Remember, the
membership is either $180 paid in full for 18 months or $5
enrollment and $19 per month automatic draft for a 2 year contract.
I am currently working on putting the affiliated location list in
the database and will let you know when that is available.
If you want to join, please remember that only Kelcy Bryant and Jean
Adams are authorized to sign a membership under this offer. You can
contact either of them by calling the Bessemer location at (205) 428-
0077. Kelcy can usually make arrangements to meet you somewhere
around town. Kelcy will also be available at the November Saturday
Support Group Meeting. If you have any questions, please let me
know.

Help I have the snick-snack-munchies

2008-10-21 20:10:49

I am 9 weeks postop and have lost a total of 56 lbs. This last week
I seem to be feeling hungry more often than I have in the previous 8
weeks. I am drinking two to three protein shakes but I seem to feel
(or think) I am hungry and I have been eating more food than I think
I should be eating. I am scared that I am going to gain some of the
weight I have lost back or stop losing. Any advice or suggestions
would be appreciated!

Affiliated Gym locations

2008-10-21 18:25:13

Alright. Rather than post in our database every participating gym,
since there are so many, I'm going to refer you to their database.
To find a gym near you that will honor your membership, go to
http://healthclubs.com/find.html . Enter your zip code and select
the box to only include clubs that participate in the passport
program. If you have questions about using affiliated locations,
Kelcy would be happy to answer them for you.

Scale for 350+

2008-10-21 08:03:00

Hi everyone.
I have a scale that I bought in May for $150 that weighs up to 430 pounds and I
am
getting close to being able to weigh on another scale I have (it starts weighing
at 300lbs)
and would love to give my scale away to someone who really needs it.
Before the surgery I had to go to Dr. Schmitt's office or a support group
meeting to weigh
and I really hated that and it made me terribly self conscious so if you are
interested or
know someone who could really use a scale at home, please email me at
lenalive@... and put the word "scale" in the subject.
My only requirement is that once you don't need the scale anymore to pass it on
to
someone else, free of charge. Random acts of kindness are a beautiful thing.

Dear Marlene,
I would love to buy your scales.

This was on my ISP homrpage today

2008-10-20 21:38:48

Hello All,
I saw this on my ISP homepage and thought I would pass it along. To
me this is negative and I don't think we need the bias media telling
us anything about weight. We live it everday and this is not news to
us. Read it and let me know what you think about it.

Hi there

2008-10-19 09:46:13

I am new to the online world and thought I would stop by the local
library and send a note. well I have my surgery date and am quite
excited. I pray for all that take these steps and for those that
have stepped before me to make life changes to improve their health
and lifestyles. I was as a younger man an athlete and following a
car accident was rendered unable to excercise properly. With that
said I was still eating like I was before the accident which means
lots of carbs and protein which wasnt getting burned up with the 2-a-
day workouts and running 5 to 10 miles a day. When Doc miles told me
I HAD to lose 20 lbs before he would operate I almost died. My knees
are pretty much useless after 18 knee surgeries but with alot of
determination and with no NSAIDS or any other pain meds I lost 17
lbs walking around a 1/4 mile track as fast as I could in just over
3 1/2 weeks. This also was aided by changing the things I was eating
as well as alot of support from my fiancee' who has been so
wonderful thru these last 20 or so months we have been together. My
knees are always swollen and in pain and my back which was broken
and damaged severely in the accident and is always aching cannot and
will not stop me from losing thes last 3 lbs before 10/26/04 which
is the day of my surgery. I made this commitment with eyes wide open
and heart willing because I need and want to live a long life of
good health. This will be a tool I will use to reach that goal with
utmost respect and a greatful heart. Thank You all
Jack

the date is set

2008-10-19 08:01:00

My name is Jack Starr and after the exhaustive process of chasing
lost records, getting thru the numerous Doc visits I have my date
for surgery. The date is set for 10/26/04 just a few more days until
the new me begins to take or should I say lose shape. I am both
excited and nervous to tell the truth. I wanted to be at the support
group meeting set for the 25th but from what I've gathered I wont be
up for the trek away from the rest room. So I send greetings to all
who have decided to read this and farewell to 125 lbs or so I am
about to leave behind (no pun intended) I'll say a prayer for all
who are facing these things I am about to meet and to those who plan
on facing these things I can only say good luck and God bless
Jack

Consignment Shops and Plus Sizes

2008-10-18 16:57:29

Hello everyone, I am interested to know if there are any particular consignment shops that are "popular" to the plus size shopper in your area. I have many nice pieces of 3 and some 4X that I would love to place in a shop that plus size ladies frequent. (Tho I'm not a school teacher, I always secretly wanted to be, so I have what I call my "teacher" wardrobe...ha!) If you can provide the phone number and address, I would appreciate that, also.

Thanks,

Attention Fashion Show Ladies

2008-10-18 13:09:24

I got this info in an email and thought I'd pass it along. Be sure
to make appointments as I imagine they'll be busy!
I did call Parisians at Brookwood Village and have an appointment
there on Nov 6. Stephanie is the manager at Clinique and said to
mention they're having a special promotion that day, so tell the
ladies to come on over to have their make up done. She said the make
up makeover is free, but they ask that you buy 2 products. I already
use their products, so no big deal. Her number is 877-4212 if you
want to pass that to someone.
Thanks to Beth Howton for this info!

Hi!! Im new

2008-10-18 09:01:21

Hi, I am a newbie. This is my first time to post but I have been
lurking for while reading everyones posts. My surgery is scheduled
for 10/25/04 which is Monday. I am getting excited and a little
nervous. I have a couple of questions. I am 25 years old. Is there
anyone on this list that is close to my age and has had the surgery
done? I met one girl at a support group meeting and she was very
helpful and supportive to talk with. Also, 2nd question, If my
surgery is early Monday morning, would it be possible for me to go
down to the support group meeting or would that be totally out of the
question on the day of surgery? I have never had surgery before so I
am a little unsure what to expect. You all are a great group of
people and I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
Thanks, Tammye

Looking for a new friend!!!

2008-10-17 11:06:57

Hello! My name is Natasha and I've been considering and praying
about this surgery for the last 5 yrs. After my last test results
showed that I already had kidney damage from Diabetes and my Doc
increased my diabetic meds. and put me on 2 new meds. for high
cholesterol and high blood pressure, I finally was able to make the
decision that will change my life. My 1st appt. with Dr. Miles was
last Mon. and I've already been approved by my insurance and been to
several Doctor appts. and tests. I have to go to a couple more
appointments before I'm cleared, but expect to have the surgery in
early to mid Nov.
I'll be attending my 1st F.A.C.E.S. meeting on Mon. the 25th.
I'm looking for someone who is about to have the surgery or has
already gone through it who loves to chat and would like someone to
share with, vent to, and discuss all the things we will be going
through together.
I'm 33 yrs. old, a christian, a stay-at-home mother of 2
(5 1/2yr old girl and 1 yr. old boy), and I love to chat. If
interested my e-mail address is nat777@... Thanks and good
luck and God Bless you all!!!!

Going to try it again

2008-10-15 12:31:27

Hey Gwencd64! going to try it again. Had an appt but had to change
it til the end of the month. My insurance has changed this month to
BCBS of AL from BCBS of TN. Having trouble getting my Celebrex
prescription filled since then and boy do I need it!!! Well, i don't
know how much i weight at this moment but I know i've gained some
since my first attempted visit in August. I surely hope things go
well at the end of the month. My friend is getting frustrated
because she's still trying to drop a required amount of weight so
she can get her date. She's done everything else. I'm praying she
makes it. I want to see her have it done as much as she wants it
done. So what all should I expect on my next visit. I was
rescheduled by a nice lady in Dr. Miles office but I didn't catch
her name. She said that I would see Dr. Miles that day. I didn't see
him the first time back in August. Well, congrats to those who were
able to accomplish this great step in a new direction and i send out
prayers to those who are waiting in the wings for your blessing.

Givem all a hand group!

2008-10-15 08:58:25

Thank you Amanda. I just want to take a minute to thank each and every single one of you that work so hard for this group. You are wonderful wonderful people and I thank God for you. You bring so much happiness and joy to all of our lives and I pray that God Blesses you each and every day of your lives. God Bless you and I love you all!

Hi Christine,
I went back to my journal, and looked what was happening to me at that time, it sounded so familiar. Yes, I had the same problem, and I was hurting so bad under my shoulder blade, and I woke up the same time every morning. (which was 2 am) just like clock work, it was terrible. I was told at one of the meeting to take Milacron or it could be mylicon the pink liquid you give babies for gas, and it was a life saver for me. and you cant O.D on it lol. I carried a bottle in my purse for 2 months, and it just went away.
